My goal is that this web site becomes a focal point for anyone researching their Sicilian roots or ancestors. In 2003 after searching the name Campisciano on the Internet, to my surprise I found so many people sharing this name, I did not realise then, the  passion that it would awaken in me, locating cousins that I never knew existed, or that I had strong Sicilian roots.

Some seven years after my research had started, more question then answers have been created, the origins of the name Campisciano, in itself is unique and can only be traced to a specific region of the Sicani mountains, a valley where the river Sosio flows, this valley is the cradle of our ancestors.

To understand who we are and where we come from, we have to familiarise ourselves with the history of Sicily, this in itself is not an easy task for so much movement of peoples has taken place for socio-political economic reasons, through time, it’s history is complex. Historians tend to deal with general area events and not much is found that is specific  to a particular regions or town, even if such information exists it’s not easily found.

It is my hope that this site, with the help of others, will fill some of the gaps providing answer to some of the questions, acting as a central contact point for all to share information on our Sicilian families.
